Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Minecraft again, and I got this crazy idea to try and make it all…witchy. You know, like potions, flying, maybe even some curses? I had no clue where to start, honestly, but I figured it was worth a shot. Here’s how it went down.
Digging Around for Witchcraft Mods
First things first, I needed some mods. I mean, vanilla Minecraft is cool and all, but it doesn’t exactly scream “witchcraft.” So, I hit up some forums and started searching. There’s a bunch out there, but these are the main ones I ended up trying:

- Witchery: This one seemed like the classic choice. It adds a whole bunch of witchy stuff, like brewing potions, making altars, and even summoning demons. It’s a bit complicated, though.
- Bewitchment: I saw this one mentioned a lot as a kind of successor to Witchery. It has a lot of similar features, but it also adds things like familiars and tarot cards. Seems pretty cool.
- Electroblob’s Wizardry: Okay, so this is more about wizardry, but I figured some spellcasting would fit the theme. It’s got a cool spell book system and tons of different spells to learn.
Getting My Hands Dirty(with Potions)
I decided to start with Witchery. I figured it was the most “authentic” witch experience. The first thing I wanted to do was brew some potions. I gathered some ingredients, like mandrake root and eye of newt (seriously, who names these things?), and started following the instructions in the in-game guide.
It was…confusing. There are all these different cauldrons and altars and ingredients, and you have to do everything in the right order. I messed up a few times, accidentally creating some weird, useless brews. But eventually, I managed to make a potion of leaping! I chugged it down and started bouncing around like a crazy person. Success!

Flying High(or Trying To)
Next up, I wanted to learn how to fly. Witchery has these brooms you can craft, but they require some pretty rare ingredients. I spent a good few hours searching for a witch’s oven, which you need to make one of the key components. I finally found one in a village, thankfully, and managed to get the oven set up.
After that, I am still in progress on making a flying broom. This is my target.
What’s Next?
I’m still pretty new to this whole witchcraft thing in Minecraft. There’s so much more to explore! I want to try summoning some creatures, maybe even dabble in some dark magic. I did get Bewitchment downloaded also.
It’s been a wild ride so far, and I’m definitely having fun. It’s a nice change of pace from the usual mining and crafting. If you’re looking to add some magic to your Minecraft game, I definitely recommend checking out some of these mods. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve!
