Okay, here’s my blog post about “fashion gothic”, written from my personal experience:
So, I’ve been seeing this “fashion gothic” thing popping up everywhere, and I kinda wanted to give it a shot. I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of drama in their wardrobe, right? I started off pretty clueless, just thinking black clothes = goth. Boy, was I wrong.
My First (Failed) Attempt
My first attempt was… well, let’s just call it a learning experience. I threw on a black t-shirt, some ripped black jeans, and my trusty old black boots. I thought I was nailing it. My friend, bless her heart, just looked at me and said, “You look like you’re going to a rock concert, not a fashion show.” Ouch. It was basic, not fashion.
Digging Deeper – Research Time!
That’s when I realized I needed to do some actual research. I spent hours scrolling through pictures, looking at different styles. I noticed it wasn’t just about black; it was about the details. Lace, velvet, corsets, interesting silhouettes… it was a whole world I hadn’t explored.

- Fabrics: It wasn’t just cotton. Velvet, lace, even some leather were big.
- Silhouettes: Flowy dresses, fitted corsets, long skirts… things that had some shape and drama.
- Accessories: Chokers, silver jewelry, maybe even some dramatic makeup.
Putting It All Together (Take Two!)
Armed with my newfound knowledge, I went back to my closet. This time, I pulled out a black velvet dress I’d almost forgotten about. It had long sleeves and a slightly flared skirt – way more dramatic than a t-shirt. I paired it with some lace-up boots that had a bit of a heel, and a silver choker I found at a vintage store.
I even tried some darker lipstick, a deep red, and I felt… different. More confident, more put-together, and definitely more fashion. I actually got a few compliments! It was a huge improvement from my first try.
My takeaway from my experience
The key to get the Fashion Gothic vibe is not about going all-out black. it’s the texture and the combination, adding little accessories.

It’s about finding pieces that have that dark, romantic vibe, but still feel like you. It doesn’t have to be expensive, either. A lot of my favorite pieces I’ve found at thrift stores or on sale. It’s all about being creative and having fun with it!
I’m still learning, of course. But I’m definitely enjoying this little fashion adventure. It’s fun to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. And who knows, maybe I’ll even inspire you to give it a try, too!
