Chic Gothic Fashion: Get the Look (Easy Style Guide)

How I Tried Chic Gothic Fashion: Easy Style Guide & Outfit Tips

Okay, so I’ve been seeing “chic gothic fashion” all over my Pinterest and TikTok lately, and I kinda wanted to try it out myself. It’s like, taking the dark, mysterious vibe of goth and mixing it with something a little more… polished? I guess? Anyway, I decided to document my little experiment.

Phase 1: The Deep Dive (aka Pinterest Black Hole)

First, I spent like, two hours just scrolling through Pinterest. I typed in “chic gothic fashion” and, oh boy, was it a lot. I saved a bunch of pictures that I thought looked cool – lots of black, obviously, but also some interesting textures like velvet and lace. I also noticed a lot of outfits with flowy skirts and fitted tops, so I made a mental note of that.

Phase 2: Raid My Closet (and Maybe My Mom’s)

Next, I went through my own closet to see what I already had. I found a black velvet skirt I’d almost forgotten about, a couple of black lace tops, and a long, black cardigan. Score! I even snuck into my mom’s closet (don’t tell her!) and borrowed a pair of black, heeled boots that I thought would work perfectly.

Phase 3: Putting It All Together (and Feeling a Little Awkward)

Okay, this was the hard part. I tried on a few different combinations. First, I put on the velvet skirt with a simple black tank top. It looked… okay, but kinda boring. Then, I swapped the tank top for a lace top, and that was definitely better. It felt more “gothic,” you know? I added the long cardigan for some extra drama, and I think it worked!

  • Outfit 1 Attempt: Black velvet skirt + Black Tank Top = Meh.
  • Outfit 2 Success?: Black velvet skirt + Black Lace Top + Long Black Cardigan = Getting there!

Phase 4: The Accessories (Because Details Matter)

I realized I needed some accessories to really finish the look.I had a silver necklace and put it on.

It definitely added something.

Phase 5: The Verdict (and a Few Selfies)

Finally, I stepped back and looked at myself in the mirror. I have to say, I kinda liked it! It was definitely different from my usual style, but in a good way. I felt… mysterious and a little bit edgy. I took a few selfies (because, duh) and even posted one on my Instagram story. I’m not sure if I’ll wear this outfit to the grocery store or anything, but it was fun to try something new. Maybe I’ll even try to incorporate some of these elements into my everyday style. Who knows!

It is not perfect, but,I learned during my practice.
