Okay, so the other day I got this crazy idea to try making some “witchcraft potions.” I’ve always been fascinated by like, old-timey remedies and stuff, so I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m not talking about anything super serious, just some fun, herbal concoctions.
Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed ingredients. I hit up my local grocery store and grabbed some basics:
- Fresh rosemary (smells amazing!)
- Some lemons (for zest and juice)
- Honey (because everything’s better with honey)
- Ginger (for a little kick)
- Cinnamon sticks (they just look witchy, you know?)
I also dug around in my own spice cabinet and found some dried lavender and chamomile. Score!
The Brewing Process
Honestly, I kind of just winged it. I started by boiling some water in a pot. While that was heating up, I chopped up the rosemary and ginger. Then I zested one of the lemons and squeezed the juice into a separate bowl. I tossed the rosemary, ginger, and lemon zest into the boiling water. I also threw in a couple of cinnamon sticks for good measure.

I let that simmer for a good 20 minutes, just letting all the smells mingle. It honestly smelled incredible, like a spa or something. After that, I strained the mixture through a sieve to get rid of the solid bits. Then I stirred in a generous amount of honey and the lemon juice. I also added a pinch of dried lavender and chamomile at the end, just because.
The Final Product (and Taste Test!)
I let the potion cool down a bit before pouring it into a cute little glass jar. It looked pretty cool – a slightly murky, yellowish liquid with a hint of green. As for the taste? It was…interesting. Definitely herbal, with a strong ginger kick and a hint of sweetness from the honey. The lemon was pretty subtle, but it added a nice freshness. I can’t say it’s the tastiest thing I’ve ever had, but it was definitely unique! I felt kinda cool for having a potion, I decided to drink some every morning.

I made a bigger batch, but changed up, I used my slow cooker. Added some new herbs I found at the store. It was super easy and I feel like I can just keep it and refill it, as it runs out.
All in all, it was a fun little experiment. I don’t know if I’ll be brewing any more potions anytime soon, but it was a cool way to spend an afternoon. And hey, who knows, maybe I accidentally discovered the secret to eternal youth! (Just kidding…probably.)
