Okay, here’s my blog post about experimenting with Japanese Gothic fashion:
So, I’ve been super into Japanese Gothic fashion lately. It’s not something I’d normally wear, but I was feeling adventurous and wanted to try something totally different. I started by diving deep into a research wormhole.
Getting Started
First, I scoured the internet for inspiration. I looked at tons of pictures and read some blog posts about the different styles within Japanese Gothic. It seemed like there were a lot of variations, from the more classic, Victorian-inspired looks to stuff that was a bit more modern and edgy. I also tried finding some videos to get a better feel for the overall vibe.
Experimentation
Next, I started playing around with clothes I already owned. I dug through my closet to find anything black, obviously. I found a long, flowy skirt that I thought might work, and a few tops with lace details. I even found an old pair of boots that I thought had the right kind of vibe.

Then the fun part: I started putting together outfits. It was a lot of trial and error, to be honest. Some combinations looked… well, let’s just say they weren’t great. But I kept mixing and matching until I found a few looks that I felt pretty good about.
The Result
The makeup was a whole other thing. I’m not used to wearing a ton of makeup, so I kept it pretty simple: pale foundation, dark eyeliner, and a dark lipstick. The first time, I think I went a little too heavy on the eyeliner, but hey, you live and learn.
- The skirt: It has a vintage, almost Victorian feel.
- The top: The frilly one add some delicate detail.
- The boots: I found them perfect, providing a solid, slightly edgy base.
- The Makeup: Keep it simply with eyeliner, and a dark lipstick.
I wore one of my experimental outfits out to a local coffee shop, just to see how it felt to actually be out in public. I got a few curious looks, but mostly people just seemed… intrigued, I guess? It definitely felt different than my usual style, but in a good way. It was kind of empowering, like I was stepping into a different character or something.

Overall, this whole experiment has been a blast. It’s pushed me out of my comfort zone and gotten me to think about fashion in a new way. I’m not sure if I’ll be rocking Japanese Gothic every day, but I’m definitely glad I gave it a shot. I might even try to incorporate some of these elements into my regular wardrobe. Who knows, maybe I’ll find a new, unexpected staple!
