Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “witchcraft jewelry” trend popping up all over my social media feeds, and I gotta say, I was intrigued. I’m not really into super spooky stuff, but the aesthetic is kinda cool, you know? So, I decided to try my hand at making some myself. I figured, why not? It looked fun and I get easily distracted.
Gathering Supplies
First things first, I needed supplies. I didn’t really have a clear idea of what I was going to make, that’s half the fun. I just wanted to gather some stuff that looked witchy-ish and see where it took me. I think that’s always the best way to start.
- Crystals and Stones: I grabbed a bunch of small amethyst, quartz, and black tourmaline pieces from a local craft store. They had so many it was hard to choose.
- Charms: Moons, stars, little keys, and some tiny bottles. Anything that screamed “magic” to me, I threw it in the basket. I wanted a variety of things to work with.
- Wire and Chains: I got some basic jewelry wire in different colors (silver, gold, black) and a few different chain styles.
- Tools: I already had some pliers and wire cutters from previous crafting adventures.
The Messy Process
I cleared off my kitchen table, because that is always a good crafting space, spread out all my goodies, and just…started. I did a few practice twists of some wire just to get a feel for things, but after that it was a free for all. There was no grand plan, I just messed around until something looked right. Sometimes I had to undo what I was doing, and other times it looked good right away.
Honestly, it was a bit chaotic. I wrapped wire around stones, twisted it into shapes, and experimented with attaching charms to chains. It was a lot of trial and error, I totally bent a few pieces of wire the wrong way and had to start over, but that’s part of the fun, right? It was therapeutic for sure, a good way to pass the time.
I tried making a few different things:
- A pendant: I wrapped a piece of amethyst with silver wire and attached it to a simple chain.
- Earrings: I made little dangling earrings with tiny star charms and black beads.
- A ring: Okay, this one was a little trickier, but I managed to wrap some wire around a small quartz crystal to make a sort of “raw” looking ring.
The Final Results (and Some Thoughts)
After a couple of hours of crafting (and a few minor finger pricks from the wire), I had a small collection of my very own “witchcraft jewelry”! It’s definitely not perfect, a little wonky in places, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun little project, and now I have some unique pieces to wear. I think I might even make some more for friends!
I think the whole point is that it doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s about the process, the intention, and the energy you put into it. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself. My stuff certainly isn’t professional, but I made it, and that’s enough for me!
