Gothic High Fashion on a Budget: Is It Possible?

Gothic High Fashion on a Budget: How to Rock the Look

Okay, so I’ve been seeing “gothic high fashion” all over my Pinterest and I wanted to give it a shot. I’m no expert, but I figured, why not? Here’s how it went.

The Inspiration

First, I scrolled through a ton of pictures. I mean, a ton. I wanted to get a feel for what “gothic high fashion” even is. It’s not just black clothes, right? There’s a lot of texture, layering, and kind of a dramatic, almost theatrical vibe.

Gathering the Pieces

Next, I raided my closet. I pulled out everything black, obviously. But I also looked for anything with lace, velvet, or interesting shapes. I even found an old, long, black skirt that I’d totally forgotten about. It had this cool, uneven hemline that I thought would be perfect.

  • Long, flowy black skirt – check.
  • Chunky black boots – check.
  • Some silver jewelry with crosses and stuff – check.

Putting It Together

This was the fun part. I started with the basics: the black lace top and the long skirt. Then I added a black velvet choker I had lying around. I layered some silver necklaces – a couple of crosses and a longer one with a dark stone. I think it’s obsidian? Not sure.

I tried on the chunky black boots, and they definitely added to the “gothic” feel. I also found a black, wide-brimmed hat. That was a bit much, even for me, so I skipped that for now.

The Makeup

I’m not great at makeup, but I figured dark eyes and lips were a must. I went for a smoky eye – kind of messy, but I think it worked. I also used a dark red lipstick. Not quite black, but close enough.

The Result

Honestly, I was pretty surprised! It actually looked kind of cool. Way more dramatic than my usual style, but in a good way. I felt like I could be in a vampire movie or something. It was fun for an experiment.

I don’t think I’ll be wearing this to the grocery store, I took a few pictures for fun. Maybe I’ll try it again for a Halloween party or something.

It was a pretty fun experience overall. Go and have a try!
