Okay, so I’ve been seeing “gothic punk fashion” trending everywhere, and I had to give it a shot. I’m not usually super edgy, but I was feeling adventurous. So, here’s how my little experiment went down.
First Steps: Gathering Inspiration
First, I scrolled through a ton of pictures online. I mean, a lot. I wanted to get a good feel for the vibe, you know? I noticed a few key things that kept popping up:
- Lots of black, obviously.
- Leather – jackets, pants, skirts, everything.
- Studs and spikes.
- Fishnets.
- Big, chunky boots.
- Dark, dramatic makeup.
Raiding My Closet (and Maybe Buying a Few Things)
Next, I dove into my own closet to see what I could work with. I already had a black leather jacket (score!), some ripped black jeans, and a pair of pretty beat-up combat boots. I do not have any fishnets.
So, I made a quick online order. Nothing crazy, just a pair of fishnet stockings and a studded belt. I figured those would be good starter pieces. I could not find good studs or spikes to add my own DIY touch. I will find them some day.

Putting It All Together: The Outfit
Okay, so here’s what I ended up with:
- Base: Ripped black jeans and a plain black t-shirt.
- Layering: My trusty black leather jacket.
- Accessories: The new studded belt, fishnets under the jeans (so they peeked through the rips), and my combat boots.
I felt pretty good about it! It was definitely edgier than my usual style, but not too over-the-top.
The Makeup: Going Dark
Now for the makeup. This is where I felt a little out of my comfort zone. I usually keep things pretty natural, but gothic punk is all about the drama. I went for a smoky eye, using a lot of black and dark grey eyeshadow. I also added some black eyeliner, both on my upper and lower lids. And of course, black mascara. I finished it off with a dark red lipstick. It took some time but I made it at last.

The Verdict?
Honestly, I kind of loved it! It was fun to step outside my usual style box and try something new. I felt surprisingly confident, even though I was a little worried about looking like I was trying too hard. I don’t think I’ll be wearing this look every day, but it’s definitely something I’d consider for a night out or a concert. I may add a silver chain and another with black beads next time.
