Okay, so I’ve been totally obsessed with French Gothic fashion lately. I decided to give it a shot myself, and let me tell you, it was a journey!

Getting Started
First, I spent hours just scrolling through pictures online. I mean, HOURS. I wanted to get a real feel for the aesthetic, you know? Not just the clothes, but the whole vibe – the makeup, the hair, everything.
Gathering My Materials
Next, I raided my closet. I didn’t have a ton of stuff that fit the look perfectly, but I found some basics I could work with: a long black skirt, a couple of flowy tops, and some boots. I also made a list of things I needed to buy or make.
The DIY Part
- I found some old lace curtains at a thrift store and turned them into a sort of dramatic, layered shawl thing. It was a bit messy, but it worked!
- I also tried to make some accessories. I found some cheap chains and charms and put together a few necklaces and bracelets. They weren’t perfect, but they added to the overall look.
Putting It All Together
This was the fun part! I spent an afternoon trying on different combinations of clothes and accessories. I played around with different hairstyles, trying to get that slightly unkempt, romantic look.

I also experimented with makeup. I went for a pale base, dark eyes, and a bold lip. It was definitely more dramatic than my usual look, but it felt right for the style.
The Final Result
Honestly, it wasn’t perfect. There were definitely things I want to improve. But I was pretty happy with how it turned out, especially considering it was my first attempt. I felt like I managed to capture at least some of that French Gothic essence.I feel like a vampire! And I really love this style.
It was a really fun experiment, and I definitely plan to keep exploring this style. I might even try to sew some actual garments next time!
