Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “gothic fashion female” thing all over my Pinterest and TikTok lately, and I kinda wanted to try it out myself. I’m not a full-blown goth, never have been, but the aesthetic? Super cool.
First, I gathered some inspiration. I spent, like, a whole evening just scrolling through images. I saved a bunch of pictures of outfits I liked – some were super dramatic, with long flowing dresses and crazy boots, and others were more casual, like ripped jeans and a black band tee.
Next, I took inventory of my closet. I mean, everyone has some black clothes, right? Turns out, I had more than I thought. I found a black lace top I’d forgotten about, a pair of ripped black skinny jeans, and even a black velvet skirt I wore to a holiday party once.
Then came the experimentation phase. This was the fun part! I started mixing and matching stuff:

- The lace top with the skinny jeans – pretty good, a little bit edgy.
- The velvet skirt with a plain black t-shirt – felt a bit too fancy for everyday.
- I even tried layering a black mesh top over a black tank top – that looked surprisingly cool!
I added some accessories. I don’t have a ton of “gothic” jewelry, but I found a silver chain necklace and a pair of chunky black boots that I think worked pretty well. I also tried some darker makeup – a smoky eye and a dark red lipstick. That definitely made a difference!
I even tried a few things out for a day! Went to coffee shop with dark lip and wearing my black ripped jeans with chain, got some compliment, you know. Felt really good.
The final verdict? I’m not going full-on goth, but I definitely like incorporating some of these elements into my style. It’s fun to experiment and step outside of my usual comfort zone. I think I’ll be wearing that lace top and ripped jeans combo a lot more often! Maybe I’ll even invest in a cool pair of platform boots…we’ll see!
