Today, I decided to dive into the world of “high fashion gothic.” I’ve always been fascinated by the aesthetic, but never really tried to create a look myself. So, I figured, why not give it a shot and document the whole process?

Getting Started
First, I spent some time browsing online, just looking at pictures of high fashion gothic outfits. I wanted to get a feel for the common elements – lots of black, obviously, but also interesting textures, dramatic silhouettes, and a certain… theatrical vibe.
The Experiment
- I started by raiding my closet. I knew I had a few black pieces that might work.
- I found a long, black velvet skirt that I’d almost forgotten about. Score!
- Then I grabbed a black, lace-up top that I thought would add some texture and that classic gothic feel.
- I also picked out a pair of chunky, black boots. Gotta have the right footwear, right?
Putting it Together
I tried on the skirt and top, and it was… okay. It needed something more. I remembered seeing a lot of outfits with dramatic accessories.

I dug out a wide, black belt with a silver buckle, cinched it around my waist, and that immediately made a difference. It defined my waist and added a bit of an edge.
Next, makeup. I’m no expert, but I went for a smoky eye (which ended up a little more smudgy than smoky, to be honest) and a dark red lipstick.
The Result
Honestly, I was pretty happy with how it turned out! It wasn’t perfect, and I definitely have a lot to learn, but it felt like me, with a gothic twist. It’s amazing how just a few key pieces and some dramatic makeup can totally transform a look.
I took some photos, played around with different poses, and felt like a total badass. Would I wear this to the grocery store? Probably not. But for a special occasion, or just to feel a little extra, definitely!
It’s really just about playing and find my own style.
