Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with gothic fashion lately, specifically for women. It’s just so cool and dramatic! I wanted to try and put together a few looks, so I did some digging and experimenting. Here’s how it went:
My Goth Fashion Deep Dive
First, I started by looking at a bunch of pictures online. I just typed in “gothic women’s fashion” and scrolled through tons of images. I wanted to get a feel for the different styles and what I liked.
Then, I started to notice some common things:
- Lots of black. Obviously, right? But also different shades and textures of black.
- Lace and velvet. These fabrics seem to pop up a lot. They give that romantic, kind of vintage vibe.
- Corsets. I saw a lot of outfits with corsets, both over and under clothes.
- Boots. Big, chunky boots, mostly black.
- Accessories. Things like chokers, crosses, and silver jewelry.
After I got the general idea. I checked my own closet. I already had some black clothes, a black lace top. and luckily, I found my old chunky black boots!

I tried putting together a basic outfit: the black lace top, a black skirt, and the boots. It looked… okay, but it needed something more.
I remembered the corsets I saw, but I don’t own one. So, I used a wide black belt instead, to kind of cinch in my waist and give a similar effect. Much better!
Finally, I added some accessories. I have a silver cross necklace, and I put on some dark eyeliner and lipstick. I also fixed my hair with a bobby pin.

I felt pretty good about it! It was definitely a gothic look, and I did it with stuff I mostly already had. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start. Next, I think I want to try finding an actual corset and maybe some more dramatic jewelry. I even tried making my own ripped-up fishnet stockings. It looked like a disaster, but it’s all part of the fun, right?
I even took several photos for my look. I’m not sure if I did a good job. But it’s a look for the time being.
