Trad Goth Fashion: Get the Look With These Easy Tips!

Mastering Trad Goth Fashion: Simple Tips for a Retro Look

Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post about “Trad Goth”, following your instructions and example:

So, I’ve been messing around with this whole “Trad Goth” thing lately. It’s, like, the original goth style, you know? Think 80s, big hair, dark clothes, the whole deal.

First, I dug through my closet. I’m talking way in the back. I found some old black clothes – a ripped-up fishnet top, a long black skirt that I think my mom wore in college, and some seriously pointy boots.

Getting the Look

Next, I hit up YouTube. There are a bunch of tutorials on there, but most of them are, uh, intense. I just wanted something simple to start with. So, I kind of winged it. I found some good songs like “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” and “Spellbound.”

  • Hair: Teased the heck out of it. Seriously, I used like half a can of hairspray. It was huge.
  • Makeup: White face paint (not the clown kind, the subtle kind), heavy black eyeliner, and dark red lipstick. I messed up the eyeliner like five times, but eventually, it looked okay.
  • Clothes: Put on the stuff I found in my closet. Added a bunch of silver jewelry – crosses, skulls, the usual.

Then, I went for a walk. Just around my neighborhood. I felt a little self-conscious at first, but then I started to get into it. It was kind of… empowering? Like, I was channeling some inner Siouxsie Sioux or something. I put my music on to really get the feelings.

Honestly, it was fun! It’s not something I’d do every day, but it was cool to try something different. Maybe I’ll even go to a goth club sometime. Who knows?

It’s way more than just slapping on some black clothes and calling it a day. I can appreciate the full scope of the subgenre now
