Okay, so I’ve been totally obsessed with gothic vintage fashion lately. It’s just so cool and different! I decided to try and put together an outfit, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
First, I started by doing some research. You know, just scrolling through tons of pictures online. I wanted to get a feel for the different styles and what pieces I might need. There’s like, romantic goth, Victorian goth, even casual goth… so many options!
Digging Through My Closet
Next, I dug through my own closet. I already have a few things that I thought might work. I found a long black skirt that’s kind of flowy, and a black lace top that I’ve had forever. I also found a pair of old boots that I thought could work, kind of. They needed some serious TLC, but the shape was right.
Thrift Store Adventure
But I definitely needed more stuff. So, I hit up my local thrift stores. This was the fun part! I spent a whole afternoon just browsing. I found a really cool velvet jacket, a bit worn but in a good way. The color is a deep, dark red. Also got the corset that can make my waist looks great.

- Jacket:Deep red velvet, slightly worn, found at the thrift store.
- Skirt: Long, black, and flowy, already owned.
- Top: Black lace, already owned.
- Corset: Black, and make my waist great.
- Boots:Old, black, needed cleaning and polishing, already owned.
Putting It All Together
When I got home, I tried everything on. It was… interesting. The skirt and top were okay, but they needed something more. Then I put on the velvet jacket, and it started to come together! I polished my old boots as best as I could, and they actually looked pretty decent.
The final touch was a simple silver necklace with a cross pendant that I found at the bottom of my jewelry box. Perfect! It was dark and dramatic.I felt like I’d stepped out of a different time. I love the way the velvet jacket adds some texture and color, and how the whole outfit just flows together.
It’s not perfect, and I’m still learning, but I’m pretty happy with how my first gothic vintage outfit turned out! It’s all about experimenting and finding what works for you. I’m going to do some makeup and post it later.
