Okay, so I’ve been messing around with some different styles lately, and I got really into the idea of mixing gothic and punk fashion. It sounded cool in my head, you know, dark and edgy but with a bit of rebellious flair. Here’s how it went down.

First Steps: Gathering Inspiration
First, I scoured the internet for some ideas. I looked at a ton of pictures – old-school gothic looks, classic punk stuff, and some modern takes on both. I wanted to see how people were already combining the two.
Experimenting with Clothes
Then, I dug through my own closet. I already had some basic black pieces, like a ripped-up black band tee, which is kinda punk already, right? And I had this long, flowy black skirt that I thought could work for the gothic side of things.
I tried putting them together, but it felt a little…off. The skirt was too “romantic” maybe? Not edgy enough. So, I grabbed a pair of black skinny jeans instead. Much better! The jeans felt more punk, more rebellious.

Adding Accessories
- I added a studded belt. Definitely punk.
- I found some chunky black boots that I’ve had forever. They worked for both styles.
- I threw on a black leather jacket. Classic!
I also experimented with some jewelry. I had a silver chain with a cross pendant, which felt a bit gothic, but I also added some safety pin earrings to keep that punk vibe going.
Makeup Time
For makeup, I went with a classic smoky eye. Lots of black eyeliner, smudged out a bit. I kept my lips pretty simple, just a dark red lipstick. I didn’t want to go full-on corpse paint or anything! Although that can be cool.
The Final Look and some thoughts
I ended up with a look that I felt pretty good about. It was dark and edgy, but also felt like me. It wasn’t a costume, you know? It was a mix of styles that I could actually wear out.

It was fun to see how these two styles, gothic and punk, could actually work together. They both have that rebellious, outsider vibe, so it makes sense. I’m definitely going to keep playing around with this!
