Okay, so I’ve been seeing “gothic dresses” all over my Pinterest and TikTok lately, and I decided I needed to jump on this trend. I’ve always loved that dark, romantic vibe, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
First things first, I needed some inspiration. I spent, like, a whole evening just scrolling through Pinterest. I made a board and just started pinning anything that caught my eye. There were so many different styles! Some were super elaborate, with tons of lace and velvet, and others were more simple, like a black slip dress with some edgy accessories.
After I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for, I started hitting up some online stores. Let me tell you, I went down a rabbit hole! I was browsing for, like, hours. It was a little overwhelming at first with so many choices, you know?

I finally narrowed it down to a few different dresses. One was this gorgeous velvet maxi dress with long sleeves and a high neckline. It looked SO elegant, but I was a little worried it might be too much for, like, everyday wear. Then there was this other one – a shorter, black lace dress with a fitted bodice and a flared skirt. It felt a little more versatile.
My Big Decision
It was tough to pick! It took a lot of going back and forth, looking at the pictures, reading the reviews, and imagining myself actually wearing them.
Finally, I pulled the trigger and ordered the lace one! It came in the mail a few days later, and I was so excited to try it on. It fit perfectly! I paired it with some chunky black boots and a silver chain necklace, and I felt amazing. Seriously, I was ready to go out and, I don’t know, haunt a castle or something.
I’ve worn it out a couple of times now, and I’ve gotten so many compliments! I even wore it to a concert, and it was perfect. It’s comfortable, it’s stylish, and it makes me feel like a total gothic queen. Mission accomplished!
