Okay, so today I decided to dig into the whole “witchcraft definition Bible” thing. It’s been popping up everywhere, and I was curious about what the Bible actually says about it.
First, I grabbed my Bible. I have one of those study Bibles with notes and stuff at the bottom, figured it might be helpful. Then, I jumped online to get some context. I mostly used some bible websites to find verses. I wasn’t looking for interpretations, just the raw verses themselves.
Starting My Search
I started by searching some basic keywords in online bible search, things like “witchcraft,” “sorcery,” “divination.” Stuff like that. I figured those would be the main terms used.
- I found a bunch of verses in the Old Testament, mostly in places like Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Exodus. They were pretty harsh, talking about not allowing sorcerers to live and stuff.
- Then I looked in the New Testament. Galatians popped up, listing “sorcery” as one of the works of the flesh. There were a few others too, but those were the main ones that stood out.
Compiling the Verses
Next, I started copying and pasting the verses into a document. I wanted to have them all in one place so I could read them together and get a better sense of the overall message. I made sure to include the full verse and the book/chapter/verse number so I could easily go back to the Bible if I needed to.

Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming. Seeing all those verses together, it was clear that the Bible takes a pretty strong stance against any kind of practice that could be considered witchcraft or sorcery. The language is intense, and it gives a very clear don’t go there feel.
My Final Thoughts… For Now
So, after spending a few hours on this, I’ve got a pretty good idea of what the Bible says about witchcraft. I didn’t go into deep theological interpretations or anything. I just wanted to see the verses for myself. I think my next step is to dive in what people’s comment about them.
It’s definitely a topic that requires more research, but this was a good starting point. I feel like I have a solid foundation now to understand the discussions around this topic a little better.
