Okay, so I’ve been super curious about the whole Salem witch trials thing, and since I’m in Oregon, I figured, why not dig into the local witchcraft scene? It’s not exactly Salem, Massachusetts, but there’s gotta be some interesting stuff, right?
First, I hit up Google. Just typed in “Salem Oregon witchcraft” and, boom, a bunch of stuff popped up. Mostly new-age shops, some Wiccan groups, and a few historical societies. Nothing too crazy, but it was a start.
Checking Out the Local Shops
Next, I decided to visit a couple of these shops in person. You know, get a feel for the vibe. The first one was pretty typical – crystals, tarot cards, incense, that kind of thing. The lady behind the counter was super friendly, and we chatted for a bit about different types of herbs and their uses. I even picked up a little sage bundle to cleanse my apartment. Good vibes only!
The second shop was a little more…intense. It had a darker aesthetic, with a lot of books on darker magic. Not really my thing, but it was interesting to see the different perspectives. I didn’t stay long, just browsed around a bit and headed out.
Diving into History (Sort Of)
I also tried to find some historical information about witchcraft in Salem, Oregon. Turns out, there isn’t a direct connection to the infamous trials in Massachusetts. Oregon’s history is obviously different, but there are some overlaps like some families that can trace their roots back. I am very interested in finding out the full history.
I did some research on the internet to see if any families have any ties to the original Salem witch trials, but did not get very far with that. This is something that I am very interested in and will be putting in more effort to find out more.
My Overall Takeaway
So, my little adventure into Salem, Oregon’s witchcraft scene was pretty chill. It’s more of a modern, new-age thing here, with a focus on spirituality and personal growth. It’s definitely not the spooky, historical image that pops into your head when you think of “Salem witches,” but it was still a cool experience to explore a different side of the city.
