Okay, so I’ve been totally obsessed with the idea of a gothic-style wedding. Not like, super cheesy Halloween stuff, but more of a romantic, Victorian, slightly dark vibe. And the dress, oh the dress, that’s the centerpiece, right?
So I started my hunt. First, I just hit up the usual places, you know, the big bridal shops. Total bust. Everything was white, ivory, blush…boring! I mean, they were pretty, but not me. Not at all.
Then I went down the online rabbit hole. Oh boy. I started with general searches, like, literally typing “gothic wedding dresses” into the search bar. That brought up some interesting stuff, but also a lot of, shall we say, costumey things. I’m talking straight-up vampire bride, which, no thanks.
Digging Deeper
- I refined my searches. I started adding keywords like “Victorian,” “lace,” “black,” “burgundy,” “dark romantic.” That helped narrow it down.
- I found some Etsy shops! That was a game-changer. So many talented designers making unique, handmade dresses. I bookmarked a ton of them.
- I spent hours, seriously hours, scrolling through images, reading reviews, and comparing styles.
I started to see a pattern in what I liked. A lot of black lace over a darker color, like a deep red or even a dark purple. Long sleeves were a must. And I definitely wanted a dramatic silhouette, maybe a ballgown or something with a long train.

Narrowing It Down
After all that searching, I managed to whittle my favorites down to, like, five dresses. Five completely different dresses, but all with that gothic vibe I was going for. Some were mostly black, some had just hints of black. One was even a really dark, almost black, purple.
Next step is the try, so let see how it goes!
