Alright, so today I messed around with “gothic” stuff. It all started this morning when I was, you know, just browsing around, and I stumbled upon some cool gothic fonts and designs. I thought, “Hey, why not try to make something with that?”
First, I gathered some references. I looked at pictures of gothic architecture – you know, those old churches with the pointy arches and fancy windows. I also checked out some gothic-style lettering, like the kind you see in old books or maybe on heavy metal album covers.
Playing with Fonts
Then, I started playing with fonts on my computer. I have a few gothic-looking fonts installed already, but I also went online and downloaded a couple of new ones. It’s pretty easy to find free fonts, you just gotta be careful about where you get them from.
● I tried out a font called “Old London” – it’s got that classic, slightly spooky vibe.
● Then I used “Blackletter,” which is a bit more… intense, I guess. It’s harder to read, but definitely looks the part.
After messing with the fonts, I started sketching some ideas. I’m not the best artist, but I just doodled some basic shapes, trying to make them look kinda… pointy and dramatic, like those old buildings. I also tried writing out some words in the gothic fonts, just to see how they’d look on a page.
Experimenting with Colors
Next, I decided that experimenting with colors. Obviously, black is a big one in gothic stuff. But I also played around with dark reds, purples, and even some dark greens. It’s all about creating that moody, kinda mysterious atmosphere.
I used a simple image editing program to try out different color combinations. I’d take one of my sketches, fill it in with black, and then add some accents of red or purple. It’s pretty basic, but it helps to get a feel for what works and what doesn’t.
Finally, I put it all together. I took one of my better sketches, scanned it into my computer, and then used the image editing program to clean it up and add the colors. I also added some text in one of the gothic fonts I downloaded.
