Okay, so I saw this cool craft online – making a tree out of wire and beads. I thought, “I can totally do that!” And, well, I did, but it was a bit of a journey. Let me tell you about it.
Getting Started
First, I gathered my materials. I already had some jewelry wire and a bunch of colorful beads from an old project. The most important tools I prepared were:
- some colorful beads
- jewelry wire
- Wire cutters
- Pliers (the small, jewelry-making kind)
Building the Base
I started by cutting a bunch of wire pieces. I wasn’t super precise with the length, maybe about 12 inches each? I took about six of these wires and twisted them together at the bottom to form the trunk and roots. It looked kinda messy at first, but I just kept twisting and shaping until it resembled a tree trunk, more or less.
Making the Branches
Then came the fun part – the branches! I separated the wires at the top of the trunk and started twisting them into individual branches. I randomly added beads onto the wires as I twisted, just sliding them on and then twisting the wire a few times to hold them in place. Some branches got lots of beads, others just a few. I wanted it to look a little wild and organic, you know?

Shaping and Tweaking
This part took the longest. I kept bending and shaping the branches, trying to make them look… well, tree-like. It’s harder than it looks! I used the pliers to help me bend the wire at sharper angles and to make sure the beads were secure. I played with different shapes, making some branches curve upwards, others droop down. It was all about trial and error, really.
The Final Result!
After a good hour or two of fiddling, I finally had something I was happy with! It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely a wire tree, and it’s got its own unique charm. The beads catch the light, and it looks pretty cool sitting on my windowsill.
I’m not gonna lie, it was a bit fiddly at times, and my fingers got a little sore from all the twisting. But overall, it was a really fun and relaxing project. If you’re looking for a creative way to use up some old beads and wire, I definitely recommend giving it a try!
