Okay, so I’ve been seeing these crystal stone bracelets everywhere lately, and I finally decided to try making my own. I’m not gonna lie, it seemed a little intimidating at first, but it turned out to be way easier than I thought!
First, I gathered my supplies. I hit up a local bead store – it was like a candy shop for crafty people! I picked out some crystal beads that I liked, some stretchy cord (I went with 0.8mm, seemed like a good size), and some scissors. Oh, and I also grabbed a bead stopper, which is basically a little clip that keeps the beads from sliding off the cord while you’re working. Super helpful!
The Process
- I started by measuring my wrist. I just wrapped the stretchy cord around my wrist and added a couple of extra inches. Better to have too much cord than not enough, you know?
- Then, I clipped the bead stopper onto one end of the cord. This is where that little gadget comes in handy.
- Next, the fun part: stringing the beads! I didn’t really have a plan, I just went with what felt right. I mixed different colors and sizes, just playing around until I liked the look.
- Once I had all my beads on, I removed the bead *!
- Time to tie the knot! I learned (the hard way, after a few beads went flying) that a surgeon’s knot is the way to go. It’s basically like tying your shoelaces, but you loop the cord through an extra time. There are tons of videos about it.
- I pulled that knot really tight, then trimmed the extra cord close to the knot. I added a tiny dab of glue to the knot, just to be extra safe, but that might not even be necessary.
And that’s it! Seriously, it took me maybe 30 minutes, and now I have a custom-made crystal bracelet. I’m already planning my next one… maybe with some different stones this time! It’s super addictive, and way cheaper than buying them pre-made. Give it a try, it’s so relaxing!
