Okay, so I’ve been meaning to dive into this whole “witchcraft on film” thing for a while now. It’s a topic that always pops up, and I figured it was time to actually get my hands dirty and see what’s what.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed a game plan. I couldn’t just randomly watch movies and call it research, right? So, I started by making a list. I just jotted down any movie I could think of that had witches or witchcraft as a main theme. You know, the classics, the popular ones, even some obscure stuff I’d heard mentioned here and there.
The Watching Spree
Next up, the fun part: the actual watching! This took a while, I’m not gonna lie. I tried to watch at least one movie a day, sometimes two if I was really into it. I started with some of the older, more well-known films. I mean it is good to start from somewhere.
Taking Notes
Now, I’m not a film critic or anything, but I did try to take some notes while I was watching. I just wrote down anything that stood out to me. Things like:

- How were the witches portrayed? Good? Evil? Somewhere in between?
- What kind of magic did they use? Was it realistic, or totally over-the-top?
- Did the movie scare me? Did it make me think? Did I just find it plain silly?
- What did the movie seem to be saying about witchcraft, if anything?
I had the notebook put aside and was jotting everything down.
Making Sense of It All
After watching a good chunk of movies, I started to look for patterns. Were there any common themes or tropes that kept popping up? Did older movies portray witches differently than newer ones? It was kind of like being a detective, but instead of solving a crime, I was trying to figure out the whole “witchcraft in cinema” landscape.
My Own Little Review
I realized that every movie got its own unique way, and every director got his or her style to direct. I tried to write short comment on those movies. No spoilers!

Still Watching…
I haven’t watched everything on my list yet, not even close. But I’ve definitely learned a lot, and I’ve got some solid opinions forming. And my list is still growing, I’m still adding more based on recommendations.
