Gothic Harajuku Fashion Trends: Dark, Cute, and Totally Unique!

Gothic Harajuku Fashion Trends: Dark, Cute & Unique Style Guide

Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “gothic harajuku fashion” thing popping up all over my feeds, and I was like, “I gotta try this.” I’m no fashion expert, but I love experimenting, so here’s how my little adventure went.

Diving In

First, I scrolled through a ton of pictures online. I mean, a lot. It seemed like there were a million different ways to do this, so I needed to get a feel for what I actually liked. I noticed a few common things: lots of black, lace, crosses, and kind of a Victorian vibe mixed with, like, street style. Cool.

Gathering My Stuff

  • Started with my closet. I already had a few black pieces, thankfully. A black lace top I almost forgot about? Perfect! A long black skirt? Even better!
  • Found some old, chunky boots. They were a little scuffed up, but I figured that just added to the “gothic” part, right?
  • Hit up a local thrift store. I was hoping to find some accessories, maybe a cool necklace or something.

The Thrift Store Haul

Okay, the thrift store was kinda amazing. I found this silver cross necklace – score! And a pair of ripped black fishnet stockings. I also grabbed a black velvet choker, which felt super 90s, but in a good way for this look, I thought.

Putting It Together

Time for the fun part! I put on the black lace top and the long black skirt. Then I added the fishnet stockings and the boots. The boots definitely made a difference – instantly made the whole thing look edgier.

Next, I layered on the necklaces – the cross and a couple of other silver chains I already owned. I added the choker, and then I played around with my hair. I have a few of hair product, so I decided a simple makeup would look great. The black eyeliner is a must, so I did a strong cat-eye. And I finished the look with a dark red lipstick.

The Final Look

Honestly, I was pretty surprised by how much I liked it! It felt…powerful, in a way. Definitely different from my usual style, but that’s what made it so fun. I took a few selfies, naturally. I felt bold. I think it is super suitable for taking picture, so I went to the park and took so many pictures.

It’s not something I’d wear every day, but it was a blast to try out. Maybe I’ll even rock it to a concert sometime. Who knows! The whole process was a good reminder that it’s fun to step outside your comfort zone sometimes, especially with fashion. Just go for it!
