Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into the world of gothic fashion lately. It’s something I’ve always been drawn to, but I never really knew where to start. So, I figured, why not document my journey and maybe help some fellow newbies out there? Let’s get into it!
Getting Started: The Hunt for Brands
First things first, I needed to find some actual gothic fashion brands. I mean, you can’t just walk into any store and expect to find a killer Victorian-inspired velvet jacket, right? So, I started with a simple online search. I just typed in “gothic fashion brands” and, boom, tons of stuff popped up. It was a little overwhelming, to be honest.
Sorting Through the Options
I quickly realized that “gothic fashion” is a pretty broad term. There’s like, a million sub-styles! You’ve got your romantic goth, your Victorian goth, your cybergoth… it’s a whole universe. I started clicking around, looking at different websites and blogs, trying to get a feel for what’s out there.
I created a list, basically just jotting down the names of any brands that caught my eye. Didn’t worry too much about being picky at this stage, I just wanted a big list to work from.
Digging Deeper: Finding My Style
With my list in hand, I started to really investigate each brand. I looked at their websites, their social media, anywhere I could find pictures of their clothes. I wanted to see not just what they were selling, but also how people were wearing it. That’s super important, I think.
- Look at their “About Us” pages: Often, brands will talk about their inspiration and their design philosophy. This can give you a good sense of their overall vibe.
- Check out their social media: See how other people are styling their pieces. This can give you ideas and help you figure out if a brand’s aesthetic aligns with yours.
