Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following your instructions and example style:
Alright, so I wanted to find a killer dress for prom, right? But not just any dress. I wanted something gothic, and I’m not exactly a size zero. So, the hunt for “plus size gothic prom dresses” began!
First, I just started hitting up the usual online stores. You know, the big names. Typed in the search terms, scrolled through… and, ugh. Nothing. Everything was either too “cutesy,” too “costumey,” or just plain boring. And the plus-size sections? Don’t even get me started. Frustrating!
Then I started thinking, maybe I needed to get more specific with my searches. So I tried things like “plus size gothic prom dresses with lace” or “long black velvet plus size gothic dress.” Started getting a little closer, but still not quite hitting that “wow” factor I was going for.

Digging Deeper
It became obvious I was not approaching it correctly,I needed to make a list of words about styles or elements to help narow the search, so I grabbed a piece of paper and scribbled down some thoughts:
- Lace: I like it, but not the cheap stuff.
- Velvet:Yes! Give me all the dark, luxurious velvet.
- Corset style: Maybe? Could be cool, but could also be uncomfortable.
- Long sleeves: Possibly, depends on the style.
- A-line: Probably a good shape for me.
- Ball Gown:Too much? I didn´t want to look like a giant cupcake.
Then, it hit me. Maybe I should check out some smaller, independent shops, or even handmade stuff. I started searching using some of the words I had written.
After a few not-so-great attempts, I finally landed on a couple of dresses that looked promising. One was a long, black velvet gown with lace accents. And that dress…wow. It was pretty much exactly what I was picturing in my head!

So, I took some extra time checking measurements details to get a perfect fit.
Boom! Ordered. Fingers crossed it fits and looks as good in person as it does online! The journey to find the perfect plus size gothic prom dress was a bit of a rollercoaster, but it looks like it might actually have a happy ending!
