Okay, so I’ve been seeing “short gothic dresses” trending everywhere, and I wanted to see if I could pull one off. I’m not normally a “goth” dresser, but I do love a good black dress, so I figured, why not?
First, I scrolled through a bunch of online stores. I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for, just something…short…and gothic. I saw a lot of lace, velvet, and different styles like A-line, bodycon, and even some with puff sleeves. It was a little overwhelming!
Then, I decided to narrow it down. I figured A-line would be the most flattering for my body type, so I focused on that. I also knew I wanted something with long sleeves, because, you know, it’s still a bit chilly out.
My Style Journey
- Started by browsing online to get a general idea.
- Realized A-line would be the best fit.
- Decided on long sleeves for warmth.
After what felt like forever, I found one! It was a black, A-line dress with lace sleeves and a slightly flared skirt. It wasn’t too over-the-top gothic, which I liked. It had this subtle, edgy vibe that I thought I could work with.

When it arrived, I was so excited to try it on. I paired it with some chunky black boots and some simple silver jewelry – a thin necklace and some small hoop earrings. I didn’t want to go too crazy with the accessories.
I looked in the mirror and…I actually really liked it! It was different from my usual style, but in a good way. I felt confident, a little bit mysterious, and definitely ready for a night out. It was way more comfy than I expected, too. Bonus!
I’m thinking about maybe add a corset or a kind of belt.

So, that’s my “short gothic dress” experiment! It was fun to step outside of my comfort zone, and I’m definitely going to be wearing this dress again. Maybe I’ll even try some other gothic-inspired pieces in the future. Who knows!
