Okay, so I’ve been totally obsessed with 90s gothic fashion lately. It’s just so cool and dark, but also kinda romantic, you know? I decided I had to try and put together some looks inspired by that era. So here’s how it went down.
Digging for Inspiration
First things first, I needed some inspiration. I scoured the internet for pictures. I mean, hours and hours, just scrolling through images of 90s goth icons and runway shows.
Hitting the Thrift Stores
Next, I hit up all the local thrift stores. This was key. You’re not gonna find authentic 90s vibes at the mall, right? I spent a whole weekend digging through racks of clothes, looking for anything that screamed “gothic.”
- I found a long, black velvet skirt that was perfect.
- Then I stumbled upon a lacy black top that was a little ripped, but in a cool, distressed way.
- I also snagged a pair of chunky black boots. Super worn, but that added to the look.
Putting It All Together
Back home, I started experimenting. I paired the velvet skirt with the lacy top and threw on a black choker I already had. I added the boots, and bam! Instant 90s goth.

I tried a few different variations. Sometimes I added a long, black cardigan. Another time, I swapped the lacy top for a black band *’s really all about layering and finding pieces that feel right to you.
Finally,I took so many photos so that I got a good memory about it!

The Final Look
Honestly, it was so much fun! It’s definitely a look I’ll be rocking again. It’s comfortable, it’s cool, and it makes me feel like a total badass. If you’re into this style, I totally recommend giving it a try. Just dive in and have fun with it!
