Okay, so I got really into this whole 90s gothic fashion thing recently. It’s just so cool and different from what I usually wear. So I decided to give it a shot and document my whole process.
Getting Inspired
First, I scrolled through tons of pictures online. I mean, a LOT. Old photos, movie stills, everything I could find. I wanted to get a good feel for the different looks and vibes within 90s goth.
The Basics
I noticed some common elements:
- Lots of black, obviously.
- Velvet, lace, and fishnet were everywhere.
- Chunky boots or platforms.
- Dark lipstick and dramatic eye makeup.
- Silver jewelry, like crosses and chokers.
Shopping Time (and Thrift Store Finds!)
Next, I hit up some stores. I didn’t want to spend a fortune, so I checked out some thrift shops. I scored a long black velvet skirt and a lacy top – perfect! I also grabbed some fishnet stockings and a pair of chunky boots I already owned.

Putting it Together
This was the fun part! I experimented with different combinations. The velvet skirt and lace top were a good start. I added the fishnets underneath the skirt for an extra touch.
Makeup and Accessories
For makeup, I went for a dark burgundy lipstick and a smoky eye. I didn’t go too crazy, just enough to make an impact. I found a simple silver cross necklace and a black choker to finish the look.
The Final Look (and Feeling Awesome)
I put everything on and… I loved it! It felt so different and empowering. It’s definitely not an everyday look for me, but it was super fun to try something new and channel that 90s goth vibe. I even took some pictures. It’s a good first try, I am going to do more for sure.
