Okay, so I’ve been on this huge kick lately, diving deep into anything and everything about witchcraft. And you know what? It’s led me down a rabbit hole of TV shows. Seriously, there are SO many shows out there that touch on the subject, some good, some… not so much. So, I figured I’d chronicle my journey, you know, for anyone else who’s curious.
First, I started with the classics, you know the ones everyone talks about. I won’t bore you to many details since the point here is my path.
Digging Through the Pile
Next, I decided I needed a system. It was too much just randomly picking shows. So, I made a list. A very long, messy list. I basically jotted down every show title I could find that even hinted at witchcraft. This included everything from straight-up witch-centric shows to those with just a sprinkle of magic.
- First I watch all the shows to take notes.
- Then, rewatch some episode to confirm my notes
- Write everying in a text file.
Then came the fun part – watching! I plowed through a bunch of shows. Some, I binged in like, a day. Others, I had to force myself to finish. I even started keeping a little notebook (yeah, I’m that person now) where I jotted down my thoughts, favorite characters, and whether or not the show’s portrayal of witchcraft felt even remotely believable, or if it was just totally off-the-wall.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though. I definitely hit some roadblocks. Some shows were just plain bad. Like, cringe-worthy bad. And others, while entertaining, treated witchcraft like some kind of sparkly superpower, which, let’s be real, isn’t quite accurate. I found myself yelling at the TV more than once. “That’s not how any of this works!” Yeah, good times.
The Aftermath
After all that watching, note-taking, and occasional yelling, I finally finished. Or, well, I reached a point where I felt like I had a good grasp on the landscape of witchcraft shows. I ended up with a pretty solid list of recommendations, and a very strong opinion on which shows to avoid at all costs. And let me tell you that a very strong opinion on which shows to avoid it, is almost more important than which ones to watch.
It was fun, It’s was interesting and most important: I like it!
