Learn the History of Witches and Witchcraft(Myths, Persecution)

My Fascinating Dive into the History of Witches and Witchcraft

Okay, so I got really into this whole “history of witches and witchcraft” thing recently. It started with a silly late-night internet dive, and, well, it spiraled. Here’s how it all went down.

Digging In

First, I just started with good old Google. I typed in something super basic like “witch history” – I know, not very creative. But hey, it worked! I got a bunch of websites, some looking more legit than others.

I spent a long time just clicking around, reading articles, and honestly, getting a little creeped out by some of the stuff I found. I mean, some of those old stories are wild!

Getting Organized

After a few hours of random clicking, I realized I needed a better way to keep track of everything. My browser tabs were a MESS. So, I made a simple document. Nothing fancy, just a place to paste links and jot down notes.

  • Started with broad topics: “Medieval Witch Trials,” “Early Modern Witchcraft,” that kind of thing.
  • Then I broke those down into smaller chunks as I learned more. Like, “Malleus Maleficarum” (that book is intense), and “Salem Witch Trials.”
  • I even started a section on different beliefs and practices – Wicca, traditional witchcraft, all that.

Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

Seriously, this stuff is addictive! Once I started learning about the different interpretations of what a “witch” even is, I was hooked. One minute I was reading about historical witch hunts, the next I was looking at modern-day pagan practices. It was a wild ride.

Getting my fact straight!

It is important to find the truth of the history. One of the challenges I met is to filter and find only the facts, and put aside any kind of personal thought or opnions.

I think I did a pretty good job on it, though.

Wrapping Up (For Now)

So, yeah, that’s my witch history journey so far. I’m still learning, still reading, and still adding to my ever-growing document. It’s been a fascinating, sometimes disturbing, but always interesting experience. Who knew a simple Google search could lead to all this?
