Okay, so I’ve been getting into this whole “Celtic Witchcraft” thing lately, and I figured I’d share my little journey so far. It’s been pretty interesting, to say the least!
Getting Started
First things first, I spent a good chunk of time just reading. I mean, a lot of reading. I grabbed a few books on Celtic mythology and folklore, and I also dug around online for some reputable sources (which, let me tell you, is a bit of a minefield). I wanted to get a feel for the basics – the gods and goddesses, the different traditions, the overall vibe, you know?
My First Ritual (Sort Of)
After all that reading, I felt ready to try something, anything. I decided to start small. I didn’t want to go full-blown ritual right away. So, I focused on connecting with nature. I found a nice, quiet spot in my backyard – under this big old oak tree. I sat down, closed my eyes, and just… breathed. I tried to clear my mind and just feel the energy of the earth around me. I imagined the roots of the tree going deep down, connecting me to something bigger.
Honestly, it wasn’t some magical, mind-blowing experience. But it felt… good. Peaceful. Like I was actually doing something, you know? It was baby steps, for sure.

Building an Altar (A Work in Progress)
Next, I decided to create a little altar space. I didn’t go out and buy a bunch of fancy stuff. I used what I had. I found a small wooden box, covered it with a piece of green cloth (green seemed appropriate, right?), and started gathering things that felt meaningful.
- A smooth stone I found on a hike.
- A feather that landed right in front of me one day.
- A little bowl of water (to represent, well, water!).
- A candle (because every altar needs a candle, I guess!).
- A small branch from that oak tree in my backyard.
It’s pretty basic, but it’s mine. And every time I look at it, it reminds me of what I’m trying to do, what I’m trying to connect with.
What’s Next?
I am still trying more things every day, learning more about myself.

I plan to keep reading, keep meditating, and keep adding to my little altar. Maybe I’ll try some simple spellwork eventually, but I’m not rushing anything. I’m just taking it one step at a time, and seeing where it all leads. It’s been a cool experience so far, and I’m excited to see what else I discover.
