Okay, so I’ve been seeing these crystal trees all over my social media feeds, and they’re so pretty! I decided I wanted to try making some to sell, so I started doing some digging.
First Steps: Research, Research, Research!
I started looking around to figure out where to begin. I watched a ton of videos and read some articles, trying to get a feel for the different materials and techniques. It looked doable, but definitely a bit of a process.
Gathering Supplies (This Took a While!)
The biggest thing seemed to be getting the right kind of crystals. I found some shops selling them, but needed to make sure everything arrived. The wire was another issue – I wanted something strong but also flexible enough to work with. I ended up ordering a few different gauges to experiment with.
- Crystals: Variety of colors and sizes.
- Wire: A few different gauges, gold and silver.
- Base: I opted for some nice, smooth river stones.
- Tools: Wire cutters, pliers, and some strong glue.
The Messy Part: Actually Making the Trees
Let me tell you, it was way harder than it looked in the videos! My first attempt was… well, let’s just say it wasn’t pretty. The wire kept slipping, the crystals wouldn’t stay put, and the whole thing just looked like a tangled mess. I almost gave up!
But I kept at it. I tried different wire techniques, like twisting it tighter and using more glue. I also realized that starting with smaller crystals and working my way up to larger ones helped a lot. It was still fiddly, but I slowly started to get the hang of it.
Tweaking and Perfecting (Lots of Trial and Error!)
After making a few trees, I started to get a feel for what worked and what didn’t. I experimented with different base shapes and sizes, and even tried adding some extra embellishments like small beads. Some looked great, others… not so much. It was definitely a learning process!
Finally, Some Decent Results!
After what felt like forever, I finally created a few crystal trees that I was actually proud of. They weren’t perfect, but they were definitely good enough to sell. I took some photos and posted them online, hoping for the best.
It’s still early days, but I’ve already gotten some interest! It’s been a fun (and sometimes frustrating) journey, but I’m excited to see where it goes. If anyone wants to share tips i will be very happy!
