Trad Goth Outfit Inspo: How to Rock the Classic Look

My First Attempt at a Trad Goth Outfit: A DIY Adventure

Okay, so I’ve been seeing “trad goth” all over my Pinterest lately, and I gotta say, I’m intrigued. I’ve always leaned towards darker aesthetics, but never fully committed. Today, that changes. I’m diving headfirst into putting together a trad goth outfit, and I’m documenting the whole chaotic process.

Digging Through the Closet (and the Internet)

First things first: research. I spent a good hour scrolling through images, trying to nail down the key elements. Seems like it’s all about black, black, and more black. Think vintage vibes, lots of lace, velvet, and maybe some fishnets. Okay, I can work with that.

Next, the closet raid. I pushed aside all my colorful clothes (goodbye, floral sundress!) and started pulling out anything remotely dark. I found a black velvet skirt I haven’t worn in ages, a lacy black top that might work, and a pair of ripped fishnet stockings. Score!

  • Black Velvet Skirt: Check. Definitely has that Victorian feel.
  • Lacy Black Top: Might be a bit too “boho,” but we’ll see.
  • Ripped Fishnets: Essential, right?

Experimentation and (Many) Mishaps

Time to try things on. The skirt and top actually looked pretty good together! The lace added a touch of that romantic goth vibe I was going for. The fishnets, though… let’s just say they were more “punk” than “goth.” I needed something a bit more… subtle. I ended up ditching those and going for plain black tights instead.

Accessories are crucial. I dug out a chunky silver cross necklace and a pair of black * adding black lipstick,I think the makeup look pretty good.

The Final Verdict

I swapped my black boots with a pair of chunky, platform * platform made all the differences!

It’s definitely a look. And I’m kind of digging it! It’s dark, a bit dramatic, and feels like a fun way to express myself. Mission accomplished, I guess!
