Trad Goth Outfits: Simple Style Ideas & Where to Shop!

My Journey to Creating the Perfect Trad Goth Outfit

Okay, here’s my blog post about putting together a “trad goth outfit”, written from my personal experience and in a casual, conversational style:

So, I’ve been getting really into the whole trad goth aesthetic lately. I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of dramatic black and spooky vibes? But it’s not as simple as just throwing on any old black clothes. There’s a bit of an art to it, and I wanted to document my journey into figuring it all out.

Starting from Scratch (Literally)

First, I cleaned out my closet. Seriously, I hauled everything out and dumped it on my bed. It was a mountain of clothes, and I realized I had way more stuff than I thought. I tried to be ruthless. Anything that didn’t fit the vibe – bright colors, super casual stuff – went into a donation bag.

Then, I started to gather my base. Now, it is black. A lot of Black. I mean, duh, it’s goth. I dug out:

  • My trusty black skinny jeans. Always a good starting point.
  • A flowy black skirt – the kind that kinda looks like a Victorian mourning gown, you know?
  • Several black tops: a lacy one, a plain black tee, and a black velvet long-sleeve.
  • Several black dresses.

Next, accessories! I picked my fishnet, then put on it.

Then put on the black dress.

For shoes, I only had one option for this. I found out that I needed more boots. But I just put my combat boots on.

The Final Touches

I did my make up, dark lipstick and eyeshadow, of course.

Finally, I looked myself at mirror, I think I did it!

It’s still a work in progress, but I’m feeling pretty good about my first few attempts. It’s all about experimenting and finding what works for you, right? I’m definitely going to keep playing around with different pieces and looks. It’s a fun way to express myself, and honestly, who doesn’t feel a little bit cooler in all black?
