Okay, so I’ve been seeing “sexy gothic fashion” all over my Pinterest and TikTok lately, and I was like, “I gotta try this.” It looks so cool and edgy, but also kinda intimidating, you know?
First Steps: The Inspiration Hunt
First thing I did was dive deep into research. I spent hours scrolling through Pinterest, saving anything that caught my eye. I noticed a lot of recurring themes:
- Lots of black, obviously.
- Lace and velvet. These textures seem super important.
- Corsets! So many corsets.
- Statement jewelry. Think chunky crosses, chokers, and rings.
- Dramatic makeup. Dark eyes and lips are a must.
Gathering the Pieces
Next, I raided my closet. I already had a few black pieces, like a black skater skirt and some black tops. I made a list of what I was missing. My shopping included:
- Checked the local thrift store. Found a killer long, black velvet skirt.
- Found a simple black lace top.
Putting it All Together: The Trial Run
Time for the fun part – trying everything on! I started with the basics: the black lace top and the velvet skirt. Then I threw on the corset belt to cinch my waist. Wow, instant transformation!

I played around with different combinations. Added some fishnet stockings. I put on the chunky silver cross necklace and a few rings. It was starting to come together, but something was missing… the drama!
Makeup Magic
For the makeup, I went for a classic smoky eye. I used a black eyeshadow and blended it out like crazy. I also used a dark red lipstick. That’s was help for a really vampy vibe. I felt super fierce!
Final Result
I added my boots, and that was it! I felt amazing. It’s definitely a bold look, but I loved how confident and powerful it made me feel. I even braved a quick photo shoot in my backyard. It was so fun to embody this whole aesthetic.

It’s not an everyday look for me, for sure. But, I’m definitely going to wear this out sometime. Maybe to a concert or a themed party. Mission accomplished! I took something trendy and made it my own.
