What is Green Witchcraft? Learn the Basics (Nature Magic Explained)

What is Green Witchcraft? A Beginner’s Guide to Nature Magic

Okay, so I’ve been seeing “green witchcraft” popping up all over my TikTok and Pinterest feeds lately. It looked super interesting, all about nature and herbs and stuff, so I decided to give it a shot. Here’s how it went down.

My First Dive into Green Witchcraft

First, I needed to figure out what this whole green witch thing even was. I started with a basic Google search – you know, “what is green witchcraft?” – and scrolled through a bunch of articles and blog posts. I quickly realized it’s basically about connecting with nature and using plants for, like, everything. Think natural remedies, gardening with intention, that kind of vibe.

I also noticed some things that green witchcraft is not about which is, It’s not strictly Wiccan (though some green witches might be Wiccan, it’s not a requirement), not about hexes or dark magic, just good, earthy stuff.

Getting My Hands Dirty (Literally)

After the initial research, I knew I needed to actually do something, not just read about it. I’m no gardener, but I figured starting a small herb garden was a good first step. I grabbed some pots, soil, and seeds – basil, mint, and rosemary because they seemed easy enough.

  • Planting the Herbs: I followed the instructions on the seed packets (thank goodness for those!). I made sure to talk to the little seedlings, wishing them well and stuff. It felt a little silly at first, but it also felt…right.

Connecting with Nature

It’s not just about the garden, though. I started taking more walks in the park near my house. Instead of just rushing through, I started really looking at the trees, the flowers, even the weeds. I tried to feel the energy of the place, you know? I even started collecting interesting leaves and stones, bringing a little bit of the outside world back inside.

Experimenting with Herbs

Once my herbs started growing (yay!), I started experimenting. I made some mint tea with the fresh leaves – way better than the store-bought stuff! I also tried drying some basil to use in cooking later. It felt awesome to be using something I grew myself.

Still Learning…

I’m definitely still a beginner. I’m still reading, still learning, and still messing up sometimes. My rosemary is looking a little sad, to be honest. But it’s been a really cool experience so far. It feels good to be more connected to nature, and it’s surprisingly calming to tend to my little plants. I’m excited to see where this green witch journey takes me next!
