Okay, so I’ve been getting super into witchcraft lately. It’s something I’ve always been curious about, and I finally decided to dive in. I figured the best place to start was with some good old-fashioned books. So, I started this whole journey, let me tell you.
Finding the Right Books
First, I spent like, an hour just browsing online. I wanted to find stuff that felt, you know, authentic, but also beginner-friendly. I didn’t want anything too intense or, like, scary. More practical stuff.
I ended up ordering a few that seemed promising based on the descriptions and reviews:
- One was a general overview of different witchcraft traditions.
- Another was specifically about herbalism and making potions (sounds cool, right?).
- And the third one was focused on candle magic, which I thought would be a good, simple starting point.
The Waiting Game…
Then came the waiting. Seriously, the anticipation was killing me! I kept checking the tracking information like a crazy person. It felt like forever, but they finally arrived!

Diving In!
I unboxed them immediately, obviously. They smelled so good – that new book smell! I started with the general overview one, just to get a feel for the different paths and philosophies. It was a lot of information, but it was written in a way that wasn’t overwhelming. I took notes – lots and lots of notes – in this little notebook I dedicated just to this project.
Next, I moved on to the herbalism book. This one was fascinating. I learned about all sorts of plants and their properties, both magical and, well, regular medicinal ones. I even started planning out a little herb garden on my balcony (wish me luck – I’m not known for my green thumb!).
First Practical Steps
Finally, I got to the candle magic book. I decided to try a simple ritual for focus and clarity, since I’ve been feeling pretty scattered lately. I gathered the supplies: a white candle, some essential oils (lavender and rosemary, according to the book), and a quiet space. I followed the instructions carefully, lighting the candle, anointing it with the oils, and focusing on my intention. It was… surprisingly calming. I’m not sure if it “worked” in a magical sense, but I definitely felt more centered afterward.

Ongoing Experimentation
So, that’s where I’m at right now. I’m still reading and learning, and I’m planning to try some more of the rituals and recipes in the books. It’s all very experimental, but it’s also been really fun and empowering. It’s like I’m discovering this whole new side of myself and the world around me. And hey, even if it’s just the placebo effect, if it makes me feel good, who cares, right?
If that is helpful, I will continue to update my learning process!
