Okay, so the other day I was thinking, “I love trad goth, but what else is out there?” I’ve been rocking the same look for a while, and I felt like it was time to shake things up a bit. So, I started digging.
My Little Research Adventure
First, I just googled “goth subgenres” or something like that. Honestly, the results were a bit overwhelming at first. So many different styles! I felt a bit lost, but I kept scrolling through images and articles.
I started by making a list, just jotting down names of styles that caught my eye. Nothing fancy, just a quick way to keep track. I used a simple notepad on my phone.
- Romantic Goth
- Cyber Goth
- Victorian Goth
- Pastel Goth
- …and a bunch more!
Then, the real fun began. I decided to deep-dive into each style on my list. I spent hours looking at pictures, reading descriptions, and even watching some videos.

I found that Romantic Goth is all about flowy fabrics, lace, and velvet. Think dark, elegant, and a bit dramatic. I totally loved the vibe!.
Victorian Goth is similar, but goes more focus on the historical. I found that people are wearing corsets, long skirts, and lots of black.
Cyber Goth was a whole different world. It’s like goth meets sci-fi, with neon colors, industrial elements, and crazy hair. I was kind of curious, but I feel this one is hard to handle.
And then there’s Pastel Goth, which is surprisingly cute! It’s all about mixing black with pastel colors like pink, lavender, and mint. I thought “Can black match those colors?”It’s a softer, more playful take on goth.
Putting It All Together
After all that exploring, I realized there’s a whole universe of goth styles out there, way beyond the classic trad goth look. It was kinda liberating, I discovered more possiblities of myself.I am trying to find some new clothes to mix it.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure into the world of goth subgenres. It was a fun, eye-opening experience, and now I’ve got tons of ideas for new looks to try. I’m not sure which style to start, but I’m going to have some fun!
