Okay, so I’ve been totally obsessed with the idea of a gothic wedding, but not in a cheesy, Halloween-y way. More like… darkly romantic, you know? So I started looking into “white and black gothic wedding dresses,” and let me tell you, it was a JOURNEY.
First, I scoured the usual places. All the big-name bridal shops. Nothing. Everything was either super traditional white or, like, straight-up black costume-y stuff. Not the vibe I was going for.
Then I hit the online shops. More variety, for sure, but it was overwhelming. I spent hours scrolling through pages and pages of dresses. Some were promising, but it’s so hard to tell the quality from a picture, right?
I started to get a little discouraged. Was I going to have to settle for something “close enough”?
Digging Deeper
- I decided to get more specific with my searches. Instead of just “white and black gothic,” I tried things like “black lace overlay white dress” and “white gown with black gothic accents.”
- That helped narrow things down a bit. I found a few designers who specialize in alternative bridal wear.
I stumbled upon a couple of smaller, independent designers. Their stuff was GORGEOUS. Exactly the kind of darkly romantic, detailed look I was dreaming of. But, of course, the price tags were… intimidating. I mean.
I decided that I would start making a black and white gothic wedding dress by myself.
So, what did I do? I started researching fabrics. I figured if I could find the right materials, maybe, I went out to the different fabric shop. Then I bought white satin and black lace. And found vintage-looking buttons and trim.
Putting It All Together
I am making it!
It is my perfect white and black gothic wedding dress.
