Okay, so I’ve been seeing “trad goth” outfits all over my socials, and I gotta say, I’m kinda digging it. I wanted to try it out, see if I could pull it off, you know? So, here’s how I went about it, from start to finish.
Getting Inspired
First, I needed some inspiration. I spent, like, a whole evening just scrolling through pictures and videos. I was looking for those classic goth looks – think Siouxsie Sioux, The Cure, that kind of vibe. Lots of black, obviously, but also different textures and shapes.

Raiding My Closet (and Maybe Buying a Few Things…)
Next, I went through my own closet. I already had a few things that I thought might work – a black velvet skirt I’d forgotten about, some ripped fishnet stockings, and a couple of old band tees. But I felt like I needed a few more key pieces to really nail the look.
So, yeah, I might have done a little online shopping. I found a really cool black lace top and a long, flowing black skirt. I also grabbed a pair of chunky black boots – gotta have the right footwear!
Putting it All Together – The Experimentation Phase!
This was the fun part! I basically just started trying on different combinations. I put on the velvet skirt with a plain black t-shirt and the fishnets. Too simple. Then I tried the lace top with the long skirt. Better! I added a wide, black belt to cinch in the waist and give it more shape.
- Outfit 1: Velvet skirt, band tee, fishnets.
- Outfit 2: Lace top, long skirt, wide belt, chunky boots. (This one was my favorite!)
- Outfit 3: I even tried layering a black dress over the long skirt, with a cropped jacket. It was a bit much, but hey, it’s all about experimenting, right?

Accessorizing is Key!
I didn’t want to go too crazy, so I added a simple silver cross necklace. I messed with my hair, tried dark lipstick, and the look came together.
The Final Verdict
I actually really liked how it turned out! It felt dramatic and cool, and definitely different from my usual style. I’m not sure if I’ll wear it every day, but it’s definitely something I’d rock for a concert or a night out. It was all about finding the right pieces, putting them together in a way that felt good, and, most importantly, having fun with it!
