Real Witchcraft for Beginners: Simple Spells & DIY Rituals

Okay, so I saw this “real witchcraft” thing trending and, honestly, I was curious. I’m not usually one for spells and stuff, but the aesthetic was chef’s kiss, and I figured, why not? Might make for a fun story, at least.

So, I started by gathering some stuff, I didn’t really know what it’s needed. I’m not pro in it LOL.

  • Candles: I grabbed a few random ones from my junk drawer. One was vanilla-scented, which felt…wrong, but I went with it.
  • Crystals: I have a small collection of rocks I’ve picked up over the years. No idea if they’re “real” crystals, but they looked pretty. I chose a purple one, which might be amethyst, and a clear one.
  • Paper and pen: For writing down my…intentions? I guess?
  • A lighter: Obviously.
  • A bowl: i found the small one, white and cute.

The “Ritual” (Don’t Laugh)

First, I dimmed the lights, I lit the candles. It made it hard to see, but it felt more…witchy. I placed my crystals and bowl around, trying to look like i am professional witch.

Then, I took the paper and tried to write down what I wanted. I felt a bit awkward because I was sitting in my room, at night with candles, do some witchcraft stuff. I kept it simple: “I want to feel more confident.” I mean, who doesn’t want that?

I folded the paper, stared at it for a few seconds, then lit it with the candle flame. I dropped it into the bowl and watched it burn. It smelled a little like burnt sugar from the vanilla candle. Smooth.

I sat there for a bit, watching the flame of paper die down, feeling…well, nothing, really. I blew out the candles, turned on the lights, and looked at the little pile of ash in the bowl. It looked kind of sad, like a tiny, failed campfire.

The Aftermath

Did I magically become a confident goddess? Nope. Did I feel any different? Not really. Maybe a little silly, but in a fun way. I guess the “real witchcraft” here was the act of taking some time for myself, thinking about what I wanted, and doing something a little bit out of the ordinary. Or maybe it’s all a bunch of made-up. It’s fun, whatever it is.

I put the ashes in the trash, put my crystals and bowl back, and that’s all. Maybe next time I’ll try a spell for winning the lottery. Just kidding (…mostly).
