Mexican Witchcraft: Exploring Traditions & Beliefs (Easy)

Exploring Mexican Witchcraft: Traditions, Beliefs & My First Experience

Okay, so I’ve been seeing “Mexican witchcraft” trending all over TikTok and, you know, I’m a curious cat. I decided to dive in and see what all the fuss was about. I’m not gonna lie, I was a little skeptical at first, but hey, I’m always up for trying new things.

Getting Started

First things first, I did some digging. Not like, actual digging in the dirt, but you know, research. I watched a bunch of videos, read some articles, and tried to get a feel for what Mexican witchcraft even is. Turns out, it’s a super broad term – there’s a whole mix of traditions and practices, many rooted in indigenous beliefs and mixed with Catholicism. Think Brujería, Curanderismo, stuff like that. It’s a blend of many things from diverse cultures.

My Little Experiment

I decided to start small. I wasn’t about to go full-on spellcasting right away. I found this one thing about using herbs for protection, so I thought, “Why not?” I already had some rosemary and sage in my kitchen (because, you know, I cook sometimes), so I didn’t even have to go buy anything.

I cleansed the herbs. Some said just thinking about a good intention is a good way to clense it.

The instructions I found were pretty simple:

  • Get some dried rosemary and sage. (Check!)
  • Bundle them together. I used some string I had lying around.
  • Visualize good vibes. Apparently, this is important. I just thought about keeping bad energy away.
  • Hang it up somewhere. I put mine near my front door.

It was easy enough. I mean, I basically just tied some herbs together and thought happy thoughts. Did it work? Hard to say. I didn’t suddenly feel like I had superpowers or anything. But, my apartment did smell pretty nice, and that’s a win in my book.

The Results (So Far)

Honestly, I haven’t noticed anything major happening since I put up my little herb bundle. But, I have felt a little more… calm? Maybe it’s just the placebo effect, maybe it’s the herbs, or maybe it’s just a coincidence. Either way, I’m not complaining.

I’m definitely not an expert on Mexican witchcraft now, but I’m more intrigued than I was before. I might try some other small things, like maybe a cleansing ritual with an egg (I saw that one on TikTok, too). Who knows? Maybe I’ll discover I have a hidden talent for this stuff. Or maybe I’ll just end up with a really clean apartment. We’ll see!
